chest organs

Chest organs have been used as accompanying instruments since the Renaissance. Concerts with early music often use a small, quiet organ, which has to allow both the musical temperature and the correct pitch of the other instruments. Our smallest instrument with only one 8´-wooden roofed is ideal for this purpose.

The larger chest organs with up to four stops are intended for use in choral symphonic works or cantatas (e.g. Christmas Oratorio and Passions by Johann Sebastian Bach), but can also be used as an accompanying instrument for solo instruments. In contrast to cabinet organs, the design of the chest organ allows the organist to look over the instrument to the soloist or conductor and thus make music in direct contact with him.

Chest organs as an instrument for the interpretation of early music

The instruments, which can be used as continuo organs as well as house organs, have a slider chest, mechanical key action with transposing device, one semitone upwards and one semitone downwards, as well as their own wind supply by means of an organ motor. The keyboard can be pushed in and the music stand can be closed as a lid.

This instrument, manufactured in the style of a chest organ, meets the highest demands in terms of both sound and playing technique. The case can be made of oak, pear or walnut. The surface can be natural, oiled or lacquered.

The organ is made in our workshop exclusively using the best raw materials, which are processed by experienced, highly qualified employees according to old German craftsmanship.
