The location on the west side of the church opposite the main altar is in the Zamora Cathedral (Mexico) the optimal location from which the entire church can be acoustically filled and at the same time gives the altar as the centre of the church a worthy counterpart.
It was important to us to leave the west window of the cathedral freely visible in order to preserve the visual openness of the west façade for the clergy as well.
Nevertheless, the dimensions of the organ (op. 620) from 2008 are impressive: the total height is 26 m and it frames the 12 m high door with its steel arch. Through a spiral staircase, the organist reaches the console at a height of 13 metres at the centre of the steel arch. The organ has 51 stops on III manuals and pedal with mechanical key action and electric stop action.
