New organ, Alexander Schuke Orgelbau GmbH, 1982/2008
As early as 1977, the first draft brochures for the new Schuke organ in the Leipzig Gewandhaus were available at the laying of the foundation stone by Prof. Kurt Masur.
For the inauguration of the New Gewandhaus in 1981, the organ (op. 499) was also completed, making it an architectural eye-catcher for the concert hall.
With 91 stops on IV manuals and pedal, it is the largest Schuke organ from Potsdam, equipped with an electric remote console on the orchestra pedestal and a mechanical console.
In 2008, the organ was equipped with two additional stops as well as a revision of the electrical system with a new setter system with PLC.
